EuroLeague, Europe’s top professional basketball team, has extended its existing relationship with Genius Sports to enable the sale of its approved data rights for incumbents in global sports betting.
Genius Sports has acted as the primary data collector and distributor for the betting industry for the EuroLeague since 2016.
As the Genius Sports service expands, EuroLeague has announced that data from its syndicated tournaments and matchdays will be covered by the courtside technology of Genius Sports and instant live feed to bookmakers.
The league emphasised that its matches would maintain the highest level of data integrity and accuracy by using data collection systems from Genius Sports that track 85,000 basketball games per year in over 150 countries.
EuroLeague states in support of its expanded collaboration that it has launched a new effort to protect its media rights and expel unauthorised data collectors found to be working inside their stadiums.
Since 2014, Genius Sports Group has been working with EuroLeague to safeguard the integrity of the league from match-fixing through advanced bet monitoring and analysis.
Genius Sports Group Chief Commercial Officer Jack Davison has said: “The extension of our partnership with one of the world’s leading basketball leagues demonstrates our commitment to ensuring security of supply, of the most important content, to our customers. Our investment in the growth of live basketball betting is dependent on the capture and distribution of fast, accurate and highly reliable data.
“Furthermore, Euroleague will enjoy a fair return from betting on their competitions while sportsbook operators and their customers will gain a crucial advantage through the quality of their products.”
