Entain Plc’s board is said to be in ‘advanced discussions’ in order to name Danish executive Jette Nygaard-Andersen as the new FTSE100 betting group chief executive.
Leading the pack
Sky News reports that Nygaard-Andersen, the former EMEA chief executive of Modern Times Group, a Swedish media conglomerate, is leading the pack to succeed Shay Segev, who announced his resignation last week, by joining DAZN, the global OTT sports network.
Entain’s non-executive director
Since December 2019, Nygaard-Andersen has worked as a non-executive director of Entain who own popular brands such as Foxy Bingo, Gala Bingo, Ladbrokes and many more popular bingo sites has been advising the FTSE company on successful new business expansions and its digital strategy for core platforms.
The executive will become the first female to head a listed UK gambling company if Nygaard-Andersen were to be confirmed.
Swift CEO replacement
Sky News added that after Segev’s exit, Entain wants to announce a swift CEO replacement, as the company fends off continued takeover interest by US wagering partner MGM Resorts.
Informing investors of the departure of Segev, Entain stressed that his decision played no part in the decision of the board to reject MGM Resorts’ £ 8 billion strategy, which Chairman Barry Gibson said had ‘significantly undervalued’ the potential growth prospects of the group.
Current corporate charter commitment
The Entain Board maintains that it is completely committed to achieving the aims of its current ‘corporate charter’ declared in 2020, beyond the interest of MGM, as it strives to lead in social responsibility and sustainability disciplines.
