DraftKings is the latest company to join the American Gaming Association’s public awareness campaign, “Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly.”
The project will be implemented throughout the company’s owned channels and retail gambling venues for the first time, marking the first time it will be used across national retail sportsbooks. All ten DraftKings retail sportsbooks around the country will run the campaign.
Forward-thinking public service campaign
DraftKings’ director of responsible gaming, Christine Thurmond said: “We are excited to join forces with the American Gaming Association to promote their forward-thinking public service campaign, Have A Game Plan.
“Customer safety is paramount, and we are confident that implementing Have A Game Plan alongside our own responsible gaming messaging and tools will enable us to increase customer exposure to responsible gaming practices and ultimately foster safer play.”
The AGA and its partners hope to educate customers on the basics of responsible sports betting while also raising awareness of problem gambling through Have a Game Plan.
At its retail locations, DraftKings will display campaign material, including physical and electronic posters, with the purpose of educating customers on the indications of problem gambling as well as responsible sports betting behaviours and procedures. In Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Mississippi, New Jersey, New Hampshire, and New York, the firm operates retail sportsbooks.
Casey Clark, AGA senior vice president of strategic communications said: “Responsibility is a fundamental priority for the American gaming industry.
“With more than 100 million American adults now able to legally bet on sports nationwide, it is critical to educate consumers about how to safely and responsibly bet on the sports they love – and bringing the Have a Game Plan campaign to DraftKings’ extensive network of sportsbooks and customers is a great way to do just that. We are thankful for their significant commitment to keeping bettors safe and educated about responsible gaming.”
DraftKings will implement Have A Game Plan into its owned channels, including digital marketing and social media, as well as its current responsible gaming structure, in addition to its retail commitment.
In 2019, the AGA launched the Have A Game Plan initiative, which now includes UFC, NASCAR, NHL, PGA TOUR, Monumental Sports and Entertainment, Vegas Golden Knights, and FanDuel as official partners.
