Sportsbook operator DraftKings will put a new take on the most popular cricketing match in the world by challenging 20 English and Australian bettors to fight it out in their Ashes 2020 rivalry through five sports.
The inspiration behind the contests is the famed Ashes Cricket series which is a highly competitive rivalry over five matches, called tests, between Australia and England.
Ten current DraftKings players from each respective nation will be chosen to fly the flag for Australia or the UK with two captains leading the teams. — team of 10 players is competing for more than a total of $10 K in cash prizes, with both regular and cumulative leader boards.
The DraftKings Ashes will run for a total of one week, with the following contests: 9/8 – NBA; 10/8 – CS: GO – E-Sports; 12/8 – Soccer – Champions League; 13-16/8 – PGA Wyndham Championship; and 14/8 – AFL
International Strategy SVP Jeffrey Haas explained the reasoning behind the initiative, saying: “The Ashes cricket series is fiercely contested between Australia and England and inspired us to run our own DraftKings Ashes competition. The rivalry between our two teams is already heating up and will no doubt reach similar heights as its cricketing namesake. We are excited for the contest to kick off and to watch the players compete for the prestigious title.
“As a digital sports entertainment and gaming company we aim to fuel the competitive spirits of fans and this initiative will help further drive engagement from both our existing customers and sports enthusiasts around the globe.”
