Following acquisition of a DFS licence from the state’s Gaming Control Board, DraftKings Inc expects its daily fantasy sports product to go online in approved parishes in Louisiana soon.
With the licence, the Pelican State will become the 44th US state to offer the company’s daily fantasy sports offering, which now includes dozens of sports ranging from the NFL, MLB, and NBA to Australian Football and a variety of eSports.
Louisiana fans will now have plenty of possibilities to participate across their favourite sports through DraftKings’ trademark second-screen experience, which is home to three major professional sports franchises as well as many D-I collegiate programmes.
President of DraftKings North America, Matt Kalish, explained: “As DraftKings continues our nationwide expansion, we welcome Louisiana to the DraftKings family, an area rich with culture, heritage, and die-hard fan bases in both professional and college sports. The Bayou will now have access to our world-leading daily fantasy sports product as we ramp up toward the kick-off of football season.”
New customers who make a minimum $5 first deposit in Louisiana will receive a free credit to compete in a $3 paid contest of their choice. Customers in Louisiana will have the ability to engage in charity-driven contests that benefit organisations in addition to the standard offerings.
In partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, one such daily fantasy sports challenge will gather funds to plant one million trees by Earth Day 2022.
The organisation has adopted a number of innovations to improve the customer experience for people of all skill levels who live in recognised parishes. A Fair Play Commitment Initiative, for example, aims to assure a level playing field by barring high-earning or experienced players from competing in casual or novice contests.
