As the successor to Scott Smith at the Sydney-based slots developer ReelPlay, David Johnson has been announced as new CEO.
The promotion has been confirmed by the online gaming studio as it confirms that Smith, who joined the company along with Johnson in 2018, remains in a board and advisory capacity with the company where he will supervise the ReelPlay group studios.
After active periods in senior commercial positions at Cryptologic, NextGen Gaming and NYX Gaming Group, Johnson initially joined as CCO, the business eventually evolving into SG Digital.
Since Johnson and Smith arrived, privately owned ReelPlay has undergone considerable growth, with the pair initially initiating the company’s transformation from Chance Interactive, although a variety of commercial milestones are lauded as they have recently been achieved.
Johnson said “I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to continue to drive the business forward as CEO. With great credit to Scott, the founders and the team at ReelPlay HQ, the business is perfectly positioned to capitalise on the solid foundations we’ve placed over the last couple of years.
“We look forward to continuing to build on ReelPlay’s solid existing partnerships whilst focussing on expanding into new markets and verticals, underpinned by the continued creation of the highest quality digital gaming content for license to the world’s leading regulated casino operators.”
