Danske Spil, the state-owned sports betting and lottery operator in Denmark, has strengthened its wagering ability for horse racing by incorporating the flagship Quantum solution from Sportech into its retail point-of-sales network.
The Quantum upgrade will see the entire retail network of Danske Spil able to process pari-mutuel bets on horse racing, while providing clients with a greater depth of pooled racing markets.
Danske Spil reported that Scientific Games would be leading the incorporation of Quantum solutions as its lead provider of wagering systems, with a view to launching pari-mutuel bets through 600 Danish retail outlets by early 2021.
Danske Licens Spil CEO Niels Erik Folmann stated: “We are pleased with the coordinated effort by Sportech and Scientific Games to make this growth initiative a reality for Danske Spil. The expansion of our horseracing pools will offer exciting new content to more players and generate additional support for the horseracing industry in Denmark.”
The relationship sees Sportech continue its strong market momentum in 2020, in which main contracts with the UK Tote Group, the Hong Kong Jockey Club and Macau Horseracing Company have been secured and renewed by the racing systems provider.
Bruno Gay, Senior Vice President of Sales and Business Developement of EMEA at Sportech, added: “Sportech is pleased to complete this key integration project that will allow our client, Danske Spil, to significantly increase distribution of its horseracing bets.
“The integration of Sportech’s Quantum™ System with terminals supplied by Scientific Games also opens the door for future opportunities to extend pari-mutuel pools betting on horseracing and other sports through their terminal network.”
