On the 19th January the Cordish Companies are to make their $700m Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia debut, keeping a range of reservations for members of the rewards club only for preview days.

Grand opening

Subsequently, the grand opening of the property will follow on Thursday 11 February, a little more than a month after casinos in Pennsylvania were cleared to reopen their doors after a mandatory closure of three weeks over the festive season.

There are more than 2,100 slots and electronic table games on the 510,000 square-foot house, 150 live-action table games, dedicated 29 table poker room; 12-story, 208-room Live! Hotel, FanDuel sportsbook; range of dining and entertainment options; six room event center with customizable meeting space of 15,000 square feet to accommodate groups of 12 to 1,000 guests; and easy access to parking with an attached structured multi-level facility.

Joe Billhimer, executive vice president of Cordish Gaming Group said: “We are beyond excited to go Live! in Philadelphia and bring this world-class gaming and entertainment destination to the heart of the Stadium District.

“What we have created here is unrivalled anywhere in the country. Sports fans, foodies, gaming enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a night of fun and excitement only has to make one stop to experience it all.”

Project to create revenue for the region

In addition, the company also states that the project would create more than $2 billion in economic stimulus for the region, along with $100 million in tax revenue in the first five years of service, including $25 million for the School District of Philadelphia.

The facility has created more than 5,000 construction jobs and is now recruiting local residents to fill up to 2,000 permanent new positions. Residents residing in the neighborhoods directly around the Stadium District that the venue occupies will be given hiring priority.

‘Play It Safe’

To make preparations for the opening, Live! A ‘Play It Safe’ initiative has also been implemented by Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, which is an improved health and sanitation program that facilitates increased cleaning frequency, physical distance, decreased occupations, modern technologies and vigorous hygiene and health initiatives.

“Our top priority is to provide a safe environment for our team members and guests,” Billhimer added. “We’ve gone through extraordinary measures to meet and exceed Pennsylvania’s COVID-19 guidelines to ensure all of our guests have fun and feel safe.”
