Century Casinos has documented the reopening of four of its gaming locations in Alberta, Canada, as part of its ‘Open for Summer Plan’, which is now in its second stage.
Century Casino & Hotel Edmonton, Century Casino St. Albert, Century Mile Racetrack and Casino, Century Downs Racetrack and Casino, and Century Sports Calgary will all reopen on June 10, 2021, as a result of this.
Last month, Century Casinos decried continuous closures in both Canada and Poland after reporting Q1 revenue of $72.41 million, down 17 percent from $87.65 million the previous year.
Century Casinos then announced the reopening of its eight Polish sites on May 28, 2021, which the business hailed as “a very important step step returning our company to normal operations in Poland.”
Since December 13, 2020, all casinos in Alberta have been closed due to a quarantine set by the region’s government to combat the spread of COVID-19.
Alberta Health Services recommendations
Based on Alberta Health Services recommendations, the legislation lifting the lockout for casinos includes social distancing procedures and strengthened health and safety standards.
Tyler Shandro, minister of health at the government of Alberta said: “I am pleased that we continue to strike a safe balance between easing restrictions and preventing the spread of COVID-19. Together, we can continue to keep transmission low as we reopen our province.”
Throughout stage two, an interior mask is worn and social separation is required. Activities inside each step are nevertheless subject to some limitations.
The third stage is set to start in late June or early July. This is contingent on all Albertans continuing to receive vaccinations and adhering to existing public health precautions.
Jason Kenney, premier of Alberta said: “With more than 67 per cent of eligible Albertans vaccinated with a first dose, a fully reopened Alberta is within our sight.
“We are putting the worst of this pandemic behind us for good and moving into a bright summer and an even brighter future. If you haven’t booked your appointment yet, please arrange to get your first dose today so we can be fully open for summer.”
