BetMGM added additional power to its US sporting ties after NASCAR’s igaming and sports betting site became a licensed gaming operator.
Unveiled as a multi-year deal, and following hot on the heels of a link-up with the PGA Tour as the official betting operator, the pair will create and promote sports betting experiences for racing fans across the United States, including introducing in-race betting options.
BetMGM will have access to NASCAR marks as part of its registered gaming operator branding, and will promote its products through the company’s mobile app, social media platforms and retail sportsbooks.
In addition, both will also create cross-promotional incentives that could include supporting BetMGM on NASCAR’s digital platforms, smartphone devices , and networks on social media.
Scott Warfield, NASCAR managing director of gaming said: “Partnering with a best-in-class operator like BetMGM positions NASCAR to build on the positive energy and momentum we’re seeing around gaming and in particular the live in-race experience.
“We’re excited to have such an iconic brand on board to expand our offerings and deepen our engagement with the most passionate fans in sports.”
BetMGM has promised to increase the range of bet forms offered during the NASCAR season on its mobile app, including pre-race and in-play bets, with others currently being investigated including top finish drivers, driver matchups, stage winners and bets tied to the winning car number (over / under), among others.
BetMGM will offer live betting, in-play betting starting in 2021, through a partnership with Genius Sports and live betting product. Research on creating a free-to-play NASCAR game is also underway.
Matt Prevost, chief marketing officer of BetMGM, explained: “We’re excited to work with the NASCAR team to build immersive sports betting experiences that 21st-century racing fans crave. BetMGM’s unparalleled betting technology combined with NASCAR’s iconic races will create a superior betting experience for racing fans all over the United States.”
BetMGM is currently licensed in seven states including Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, Nevada and West Virginia for sports betting and plans to be in eleven states by the end of 2020.
