Betfred has agreed a three-fold contract to become an official partner of the 2021 England Men’s, Women’s and Wheelchair teams, including when England hosts the Rugby League World Cup (RLWC) tournament next year.
The UK bookmaker won the title sponsorship of the Super League, the highest rugby league tier, in 2017. The contract was extended for a further two years in May 2019, marking the biggest sponsorship partnership in the history of the tournament.
Betfred has also signed agreements with the Championship, League 1 and the Super League for Women.
Mark Foster, the RFL’s Chief Commercial Officer said: “Betfred have been outstanding sponsors for Rugby League for the last four years, and it’s fantastic that they will now extend that support to our England teams in 2021.
“It’s such an exciting time for our Men’s, Women’s and Wheelchair teams as they prepare to play World Cups on home soil.”
As part of the deal, the Betfred logo will appear during the tournament on the lower back section of players’ jerseys to promote the brand.
Betfred Owner Fred Done announced: “Following our very successful association with Rugby League at all levels in recent years, Betfred are delighted to become an official partner of the England Men’s, Women’s and Wheelchair teams for the Rugby League World Cup in 2021.”
On October 23, when England hosts Samoa in St James’ Park, the Men’s Rugby League World Cup gets underway, while the Women open the Emerald Headingley tournament against Brazil on November 9.
England’s Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup campaign starts at the Copper Box Arena in London’s Olympic Park on 11 November against Australia.
