Through a partnership with the Portuguese Basketball Federation, Betclic has increased its brand awareness and marketing in the Portuguese betting industry.
The Portuguese Basketball Federation will rebrand the Portuguese Basketball League to the Betclic League as part of the three-year deal.
The collaboration protocol inked by the sports betting operator and the basketball league will begin prior to the start of the upcoming sporting season, having been timed to coincide with the sports calendar draw.
A new paradigm of visibility
Pureza Sousa, Country Manager of Betclic Portugal said: “Betclic’s entry as the main sponsor of the basketball league represents a firm step in our ambitions of wanting to bring to national sport a new paradigm of visibility that we have not been able to achieve in certain sports, namely basketball with the Betclic League.”
The deal improves Betclic’s brand in Portugal, expanding on a marketing campaign launched ahead of the UEFA European Championship 2020.
The operator used extensive advertising to remix Cristiano Ronaldo’s renowned matchday battle cry of “Andar bater, tu bates bem” – “Come here, You Knock it Well” from Portugal’s Euro 2016 victory against Poland.
Meanwhile, the French bookmaker has strengthened its position in the domestic sporting field by signing a three-year deal with France’s National Rugby League (LNR) to become the league’s primary sports betting partner, which includes sponsorship of the top-tier Top 14 rugby union championship.
