Betclic has announced its largest sponsorship pledge to date since becoming the official betting partner for Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 championships in French football.
Confirmed this morning by France’s Ligue de Football Professional (LFP), Betclic will join the roster of marquee partners from French football, which includes UBER Eats as the Ligue 1 headline sponsor and BKT tyres as the Ligue 2 lead sponsor.
In September Betclic will begin its betting partnership deal for Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 by signing a three-season agreement, with a start date yet to be announced.
Last April, the LFP was compelled, on direct orders from the French government, to cancel all 2019/2020 football leagues and tournaments, which meant that France would host no major sporting and entertainment events until September.
LFP Director-General Didier Quillot, announcing the partnership, described Betclic as a ‘generational brand,’ extending the Ligue 1-and-2 appeal to target audiences aged 18-35.
He said: “We are very pleased to welcome Betclic as a partner of Ligue 1 Uber Eats and Ligue 2 BKT. The arrival of this new partnership demonstrates the attractiveness of our two competitions. Alongside Betclic, a modern and strong company for young people, we find the best partner to support us in our recruitment and digital engagement challenges.”
Betclic CEO Nicolas Béraud, meanwhile, emphasised the value of the relationship at a crucial period for French football as it prepares to revive its professional leagues after lockout.
Béraud further added: “We are very proud to partner with Ligue 1 Uber Eats and Ligue 2 BKT. These 2 competitions are very appreciated by our players, Ligue 1 Uber Eats being in particular the most wagered competition on Betclic.
“The offer that we are going to deploy as part of this partnership will allow all French football fans to live their passion even more intensely.”
