Andrew Abbott has joined the advisory board of BettorEdge, a Minneapolis-based online no-fee sports betting marketplace and social network.
Abbott will use his experience as the agency development and strategy lead for social media platform Reddit to help the BettorEdge team increase the social side of their sports betting marketplace while also making it lucrative.
BettorEdge Co-Founder and CEO Greg Kajewski expressed his delight at the appointment, saying: “We are extremely excited to have Andrew join our team as an advisor. We are moving fast to democratize the sports betting experience.
“Andrew’s unique expertise in successfully scaling social platforms such as Reddit and Snap, will be invaluable as we continue to innovate our platform for sports bettors.”
Prior to joining Reddit as a Global Agency Lead, Abbott was the head of Sports Brand Partnerships at Snap Inc, where he worked on negotiations with the NFL, NBA, PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Games, and FIFA World Cup.
Abbot said: “Betting is a social medium, and the future of sports betting is returning to that foundation.
“BettorEdge understands that and has created a space where sports bettors can trade bets with no fees attached, all while connecting with a community of like-minded bettors. I’m looking forward to working with the team to maximise this powerful model.”
The business said in July that it had received more than $3.5 million in sports betting orders in its first six months of existence.
