After appointing The Miles Agency to lead its public relations and community involvement in the Commonwealth of Virginia, Rush Street Gaming has elaborated on its contribution to the creation of Rivers Casino Portsmouth.
Portsmouth’s developer and gaming operator
In November, the company was chosen as Portsmouth’s developer and preferred gaming operator for the upcoming facility, as the green-light was given to a number of gaming establishments following voting referendums.
Legalised casino gaming
In three other Virginia cities, with Norfolk, Bristol and Danville giving the nod, the decision to allow casino gaming was also made. The Pamunkey Indian Tribe, Hard Rock International and Caesars Entertainment, respectively, will be operating partners in these developments.
Employment and tax revenue
A $300m local investment, Rivers Casino Portsmouth will anchor the all-new Entertainment District scheduled for Victory Boulevard and bring to the area 1,300 permanent jobs and 1,400 temporary construction jobs.
With proposals including a hotel, indoor and outdoor concert stages, conference rooms, numerous restaurants and more, the property is expected to produce more than $16 million in new annual tax revenues for Portsmouth. The gaming floor of Rivers Casino will feature a number of slots, table games, a poker room and a BetRivers Sportsbook.
Jacob Oberman, senior vice president of development for Rush Street Gaming said: “We’re grateful to Portsmouth voters for approving our casino plans last November.
“Collaboration with our host community is a hallmark of Rush Street’s development philosophy. The Miles Agency shares our commitment to proactive, transparent communications to keep stakeholders informed and engaged.”
Experienced marketing and public relations firm
The Miles Agency is a Virginia Beach, Virginia, marketing and public relations firm with more than 30 years of service to a wide range of public and private customers, including the United States Navy, Portsmouth City, Hampton Roads Transit, Coca-Cola, Pizza Hut, Virginia Gas, Hampton University, and more.
Delceno Miles, president and CEO of The Miles Agency said: “Rivers Casino Portsmouth is a welcome addition to our region and to our client roster. “Our team appreciates and values Rush Street’s community-minded approach. The positive impact of this project will be transformative for the region, and we’re thrilled to be part of it.”
Rush Street Gaming is currently seeking a Virginia Lottery Board casino operator’s license and plans to break ground upon approval.
The grand opening will take place roughly two years after construction begins. A VLB online sports betting license is also being sought by Rivers Casino Portsmouth.
