The title sponsor for the 2021 Portuguese Grand Prix has been announced as 888, an online gaming and entertainment company.
The event, which takes place from April 16 to 18 at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, will now be known as the Grande Prémio 888 de Portugal.
Dorna Sports’ managing director, Pau Serracanta, stated: “We are very happy to welcome 888 as title sponsor for the Portuguese Grand Prix and see the 888 name take top billing at one of the most spectacular tracks on the calendar. 888 is a well-known and respected name in the field and we’re very happy to welcome them back to MotoGP.”
Access to brand for Portuguese players
888, which operates in a number of jurisdictions around the world, provides Portuguese players with access to the 888casino brand through the 888.pt platform.
Since becoming an official sponsor of Shamrock Rovers Football Club for the 2021 and 2022 seasons earlier this month, the organisation decided to associate itself with the world of sports, saying that the agreement “signals commitment to the local community.”‘
‘Unequivocal supporters for motorcycle sports’
888 Portugal’s head of PT markets, Monica Rangel, said of the current agreement: “It is a thrilling moment for everyone at 888 while we position ourselves as unequivocal supporters for motorcycle sports globally.
“In challenging times, we consider this a true sign of confidence for Portugal and a clear statement on its importance in international sports events. Above all at 888 we want to support and celebrate this moment with all Portuguese fans.”
